Ricardo Afonso

Mr. Afonso has over two decades of technical expertise and has led multidisciplinary teams on major projects across diverse industries on five continents. Prior to joining Denison, Mr. Afonso served as Managing Director of Plus Natural Resources (+NR), a leading international engineering, project management and technical advisory business serving mining, energy, infrastructure and industrial clients – including the development and delivery of mining and energy projects from resource/project evaluation, feasibility, and FEED through execution readiness, constructability, and operational ramp-up. Prior to that, Mr. Afonso served as Project Engineering Leader for Aker Solutions, providing TotalEnergies a turn-key subsea production system for the ultra-deepwater Kaombo oil field project offshore Angola, and Projects Director for Lundin Mining's Neves-Corvo Zinc Expansion Project in Portugal.
Ricardo holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (Portugal), completed additional mechanical engineering studies through the Erasmus program at the University of Bristol, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Canada through APEGA. He is also PMP® certified, a Chartered Engineer in Portugal and the European Union, and Six Sigma certified.
